Gay Marriage

I feel that NO ONE has the right to tell another person who he or she should love or spend the rest of their life with. I believe that it's an invasion of privacy when the government tries to deny same sex marriage. To begin with, a person does not wake up one morning and decides to be gay. He is born with that feeling. He is born with his nature. How would the government feel if we decided who the president or any other authority figure would marry? I mean I don't think we are who to decide or tell someone what they should do with their lives. If a man is happy loving a man, hey let it be. No one is getting harmed by some love.

Flag Desecration

I don't believe there should be an amendment to prohibit flag desecration. The original document gave the people the right to freedom of speech and in my opinion destroying a flag is just simply that. When someone expresses his or her feeling by doing this, there is no physical harm to anyone. Of course there might be a few hurt feelings here and there, but why change something that has been stablished for such a long period of time and is not causing hard to anyone? If it makes a person feel that he has made things right by burning or destroying a flag let them exite them selves.

Door-To-Door

Having to obtain a permit in order go door-to-door is not such a bad idea. It has more benefits than disadvantages. Some of the advantages for us as consumers will be knowing that the person knocking at our door is legitimate business person or a representative and not some crazy lunatic trying to cause harm. Considering the area we live in this would be a great idea. We will be able to know what to expect. Besides if the persons going from door-to-door are actual businesses, why would they have any argument against such a law or ordinance? For example, why would Jehova's witness have a problem with obtaining a permit? Isn't their religion legitimate?

But mean while we get such an ordinance here in California, here is a webpage with some tips on how to deal with door-to-door persons: http://www3.gov.ab.ca/gs/pdf/dealdoor.pdf

Death Penalty

The death penalty is such a controversial issue for some that they rather not comment on it. For me it could go either way. But for the purpose of this blog I say no to the death penalty. I can see how the family of someone who has been murdered would want the killer to die as well. From personal experience I can tell you that's what one would want at first. My father was murdered when I was only 11 years old. At that time all I wanted was for the persons who did it to go to hell (I'm sorry if I'm too literal). But then as time past and I was able to think more clear I figured that it would be more "efficient" to let them spend the rest of their life in a prison cell knowing that they will never get out. That they will never be able to spend real time with their family. For me that was more painful than taking their lives at once. Unfortunately, that was not the case for the individuals who took my father's life. They were able to get out in less than four years by corrupting the judge. But this is not the only reason I do not really take a side on death penalty. For example, someone can be sentenced to the death penalty and killed. But what would happen if later on he was proven innocent. We would not be able to do anything about it except "sorry". Sorry wouldn't bring the individual back. By keeping them in prison not only will they suffer if they are guilty, but they will also be able to appeal if they are not.

Choosing Sex

I do not believe that people "choose" their sex. I strongly feel that people are born with their feelings and inclination towards what side they want to choose. Of course, like with everything there is the few that do decide to change sex preference for whatever reason, but for the majority of them I believe they are born with it.
